SPREP’s new Information network

The Information and Technology section in the head office of the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme SPREP in Apia Samoa, currently hosts attachment trainings for representatives from Information, Communication and Technology ICT departments from each member country in the region.
Lanieta Faleasiu Tuvalu ICT Acting Director was able to attach at the SPREP head office for 3 months being trained on uploading database on to the web.
Ms Faleasiu told Tuvalu news that this is Phase 4 of the three year old Pacific Environmental Information Network PEIN project, which aims to upload all information on environmental issues like global warming and sea level rise on to the web so it can be shared by all environment departments in the region and abroad.
She further said this programme is under Tuvalu’s environment department she will set up the web based database when equipment arrives in the country.
This project is to end at the end of this year.
Ms Faleasiu’s participation at the SPREP was funded by the European Union.
