World Diabetes Day celebrated in Tuvalu

“Diabetes cares for everyone” was the theme for this year’s World Diabetes Day, which fell yesterday November 14th, which Tuvalu celebrated.
Tuvalu marked the day with a live transmission organized by the Health Department, and which educated the Tuvalu public on the truth about diabetes and the dangers related to it, and diet and physical activities that should be practiced to minimize the effects of diabetes on those infected and to keep the uninfected from catching it.
Health Educator Avanoa Paelate told Tuvalu news, she hopes members of the public are aware that once one gets diabetes, it is for life therefore those with diabetes have to keep to their diet and the unaffected to try and practice safe diet and physical activities.
World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on the 14th of November, and this date is significant because it is the birthday of Frederick Banting who along with Charles Best first conceived the idea, which led to the discovery of insulin 1922.
