However Secretary in the Ministry for Transport Tapugao Falefou says, that in the Air Fiji's Board of Directors meeting held last December, it was agreed to extend the lease of the Convair for six months more.
He adds that in the meantime, the Air Fiji due to financial matters tries only to lease an aircraft to continue providing air services to Tuvalu.
The Brasilia which was also leased by the Air Fiji from and Australian Company, before the Convair had been returned as the maintenance cost was too high.
Falefou says, the other reason was that it will take a long wait for spare parts for the aircraft.
