Businesses to pay up licenses

By Silafaga Lalua

Businesses on the capital are being reminded by the Funafuti Kaupule to pay up their licenses if they wish to operate this year.

Hellani Tumua the Funafuti Kaupule Secretary told Tuvalu news that in the past week business owners have started to come in and pay for their operating licenses at the Kaupule office.

She would like to remind anybody who has anything to sell that a license is required and they have to pay for that preferably now.

Tuvalu news has been informed that the Kaupule had found people selling cigarettes, lollies and drinks at Bingo outlets in the past year without licenses.

Tumua warns such dealers that it is illegal under the Business License Act to sell things no matter how small without a license.

Bread sellers as well as those who want to hold dances at night clubs are also reminded that they are also required to obtain a license.

A business license lasts for a period of one year from date of purchase.
