Electricity Problem

By Lina Malaki

Funafuti Island experienced a power failure on Friday afternoon and most workers in offices had to pause work until the electricity was back on.

This was experienced for half an hour from 11.30 to 12.30 at noon.

According to the General Manager of the Tuvalu Electricity Corporation, Mr Mafalu Lotolua the new generators at the new building went off when they ran out of fuel.

Mr Lotolua told Tuvalu News the new generators needed to be refilled at all times but the electricity power went off because the fuel supply for the Generators arrived late at the building,

As a result of this, two officers got stuck in the lift in the Government’s building.

Bank officer Felo Nai and Government officer Teio Teaukai managed to get out of the lift with the help of Eti Esela who was around at the time of the incident.

The electricity power went on again at almost half past twelve in the afternoon.
