Rugby Union starts up

By Silafaga Lalua

For the first time in Tuvalu - Rugby Union is to hold its trials for young men of the country.

An organiser Fenua Toomu told Tuvalu news there will be trials to be held tomorrow Thursday January 11th, 2007, at half past four in the afternoon.

Every interested young man is invited to play at the trials, where a team will be selected at the end. Officials and committee members for the Union will also be selected after the trials.

Toomu stated that the Union is being set up with the objective to use young Tuvaluan men’s talents, and to form a national team.

The vision is to eventually expose Tuvalu talent in the game at the regional and International arena, which can also be a form of revenue for the country if players get picked up by foreign teams.

The trials will be at Tuvalu Sports Ground and everyone interested is invited to come and play and or support.
