TNPF donates towards Pac Games

By Silafaga Lalua

Tuvalu National Provident Fund has made a big donation towards the Tuvalu team going to the Pacific Games this year.

Penielu Teo presented a cheque of 5 thousand dollars for the team of athletes and officials representing the country at the upcoming Pacific Games to be held in Samoa later this year.

Sports Officer Robert Laupula told Tuvalu news that the donation adds on to the government’s 100 thousand dollars already in the Sports ministry’s budget for this year.

He further added that the Association has written to many organizations in the country for any financial assistance they are able to offer or donate for the cause.

Mr Laupula stated that this is part of the fundraising strategies for Tuvalu Association of Sports TAS.

Tuvalu news gathered that TAS targets an amount of 300 thousand dollars to be able to take the team of athletes and officials to the games.

Mr Laupula stated that any organization or private institution wishing to make a donation towards Tuvalu team is welcome to do so.

On the field, the athletes have started their trainings in their respective games in preparation for the big games.
