Tuvalu Media Board of Directors agrees to increase rates this year

By Yvette D’Unienville

The Board of Directors of the Tuvalu Media Corporation TMC in its recent meeting has agreed to increase the prizes of all services provided by the corporation.

Naming only a few of the services are programmes, advertisements, requests, CD making and Printery tasks among others.

General Manager of TMC Melali Taape says that the change is to boost income generated by the corporation in order to meet running cost and other expenses of the corporation.

She is grateful for the government annual subsidy to the corporation which has been maintained at 80 thousand dollars for three years now but it is insufficient for TMC.

Tuvalu news believes that TMC is also facing a major problem on the shortage of staffs as vacant post in the corporation could not be filled due to financial limitation.

The Board of Directors meeting was held on Friday.
