CATIC requests for more AIL seats in the Air Fiji Board

The Chinese Company CATIC who holds one half of the Aviation Investment Limited (AIL) shares, has requested to have representatives of the in the Air Fiji Board reviewed.
Tuvalu holds the other half of the AIL shares, and AIL being the major shareholder in Air Fiji, holds more seats in its Board.
Tapugao Falefou Ag. Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Transport attended the Air Fiji Board meeting held in Fiji last week, and said that CATIC requested that AIL’s representatives in the Air Fiji Board of Directors should be increased.
Falefou stated that under the Article of Association of Air Fiji, there is a maximum of 8 Directors of the Board.
At the moment there are 7 with AIL holding 4, Fiji holding i and 2 seats are being occupied by minority shareholders.
Falefou explained that he has to present this issue to the Cabinet at the earliest.
Tuvalu is represented at the AIL by Secretary of Communications and Transport, and Tuvalu’s High Commissioner to Fiji.
AIL currently holds 86% of Air Fiji shares.
