Tuvalu to attend consultation meeting on the Bio Security Model Regional Law

The Director of Agriculture left the country on today’s flight to attend a one week meeting in Papua New Guinea (PNG) commencing next week.

According to reports, the director of Agriculture, Itaia Lausaveve and the Crown Counsel, Saaga Talu would represent Tuvalu at the final consultation meeting on the Bio Security Model Regional Law.

The meeting funded under the Secretariat of the Pacific Communities (SPC) would be attended by other representatives from the region which they would discuss issues on the finalized law and also adopt the appropriate law to be used in the Quarantine Section in the Agriculture Department.

Mr Lausaveve also added this meeting would also improve the border on the Bio Security legislation and protection of our food crops.

The two officers will return to Tuvalu on the 25 of this month.
