TNSA readies for exposure trip

By Silafaga Lalua

40 years of existence for Air Fiji gives Tuvalu National Soccer Association TNSA squad to the Pacific Games the chance to go on an exposure trip from today.

TNSA President Tapugao Falefou informed Tuvalu news that Air Fiji donated 30 FOC tickets plus two sets of training uniforms to TNSA as part of its promotion and celebration of its 40 years of existence this month.

The airline is also sponsoring Tuvalu National Rugby Union squad on a similar trip as well.

Reports say the soccer squad is currently camping at Lotokava Falekaupule, and undergoing training under the supervision of their coaches.

The camp started since 1st of July.

The 30 tickets allow 5 officials and 25 players to go on this trip, and Tuvalu news learnt 8 of them left on today's flight while the rest leave on the next flight ? Monday 16th of July.

On the 17th July, the squad will play its first game at Cakobau Park with the Rewa team. On Thursday it will play Suva team at the Fiji National Stadium, while its last game will be with the Lautoka team in Western Viti Levu on Saturday July 21st.

Falefou stated that there was an arrangement for the squad to play Fiji’s national soccer team but it cannot be done since Tuvalu and Fiji will play in the same pool during the Pacific Games next month.

When asked why the tour has been left till now he replied that there was one intended for December last year but was cancelled due to the coup in Fiji.

The squad will be accommodated at the Peninsula Hotel in Suva during their one week stay.
